I’m just about to launch a new online course, it was hugely successful a few years ago, so I thought it was about time I did it again.
Mastering Black and White, is an online assignment based course that will run for a total of 12 weeks during the summer. It’s a very personal course for me as I will basically teach you everything I know about creating stunning Black and White Photographs.
Over the past few years of teaching, I’ve found that one of the most beneficial ways of learning is in a group. Not huge numbers, but enough that you can encourage each other while helping and growing together. So for this course the numbers will be limited.
So let’s take a quick look at what we will be doing …
You will learn how to “see” in black and white, identify which images work best in B&W, learn how to improve your composition and image design, and of course, camera techniques to guarantee a great exposure every time.
To improve your understanding and experience of using post production techniques to further enhance your work. You will learn how to evaluate the tonal range and tonal balance of an image, and then, how to make global and selective changes using adjustment layers, selections, masks, and the Curves tool ; Photoshop’s most powerful tools.
Learn how to interpret, evaluate and discuss your work with others in the group.
Although the course is rich in content, the aim is for it to be relaxed and accessible to photographers at all skill levels. Instruction will be given in easy to understand language. The course is geared towards Photoshop users, those that have never touched it, beginners and advanced all welcome. Lightroom users also welcome.
Using the latest web-conference software (supplied free of charge), we will meet once every 2 weeks for an hour or so in a virtual classroom, where I will critique your work and we have the chance to discuss the previous weeks assignment. At the end of the webinars, every photographer is given an assignment to complete and submit ready for the next session. I’m also on-hand throughout the week to offer any addition guidance you may need, and all our webinars are recorded, giving you a library of instructional videos for you to keep and revise as needed.
Additional instruction videos are also supplied, completely free of charge.
We begin Sunday 11th June, 2017 at 19.30pm UK Time, and will meet every other Sunday for a total of 6 sessions.
